Fall – Embracing Transition and Letting Go

One of my favorite quotes is the one above; a reminder that fall shows us how beautiful ‘letting go’ can be. Think of the falling leaves, the harvest, a time of transition. At the same time, transitions bring a feeling of new. With a change in weather and activities, kids returning to school, swapping shorts for sweaters, we may gain a sense of a fresh, new order; an opportunity to reset. Instead of going to the pool, we can enjoy the firepit. Instead of the green trees and flowers, we can enjoy crisper air and beautiful fall colors.
Letting go can free us of stress and lighten our load so to speak. It helps us release the past and future and be in the present. Letting go can be about releasing what does not really belong to us – the many things we cannot control. Releasing patterns of thinking, stories, comparisons, and expectations can be freeing. It can be about doing less and buying less. Releasing worry, control, fixing, peacekeeping, guilt, judgment, resentment, grudges…
These ideas might sound good and make sense, but actually doing these things is not easy. Transition may mean going out of our comfort zone and into uncertainty. We often need help with our process. If you could use some support, please reach out: [email protected].
